ClinicsNurse ClinicsOur qualified and experienced nurses provide a number of clinics to advise pet owners on preventative healthcare and care after illness and surgery. Please call to book an appointment with one of our nurses. Weight clinicsBeing overweight has potentially serious effects on health. Joint problems such as arthritis are more common or more severe. Diabetes and heart disease occur more often as well as some other specific problems affecting the liver, pancreas and other organs. Our nurses can advise you and help you every step of the way to get your pet the right weight. In orthopaedic disease this is often at least as important as surgery and medicine and often more so. A very informative link is to a trial involving two groups of Labradors over a long period, demonstrating the devastating effect of obesity. Dietary adviceDiarrhoea, weight loss, poor appetite, scavenging and poor teeth can all be helped by getting the diet right. Our nurses can help you with back up from vets and nutritionists. Dental clinicsDental hygiene not only makes our pets more pleasant to live with, it has a positive effect on their health. The nurses can advise you how to care for your pet's teeth through brushing, food supplements, and toys and advise you when veterinary help is needed. It is advisable to have your pet's teeth examined every 6-12 months to check for signs of discomfort, tartar and gingivitis. Early intervention can save teeth. Flea and worming treatmentsOur nurses will administer flea and tick treatments and worming tablets for pets that might object to being handled. They will also advise the best prevention plan for your individual pet. BehaviourBehavioural issues can be stressful for both pet and owner. For example, interaction with other animals, fear of fireworks, toilet training, aggression and destructiveness. Our nurses can advise you how to deal with these problems in conjunction with the vets or referral to a behaviourist when required.
