InsuranceWhen you first get a new pet it is a good time to consider pet health insurance. If your pet becomes unwell when it is not insured it is already too late to get insurance covering that particular condition. If you take out a policy when your pet is healthy you will be covered for veterinary treatment for virtually any illness or accident, as long as it is not a problem your pet was born with. Pet health insurance is very worthwhile because we can then help you to select the best treatment option for your pet regardless of the cost. As medicine becomes more advanced many new treatments are developed, which can benefit your pet immensely, but can also prove expensive. The insurance also covers referral to a veterinary specialist should this ever be necessary. To make things easy we handle all the paperwork that goes with your insurance claim. What to look for in an insurance policyWe are independent of all the pet insurance companies, so we are unable to make specific recommendations. However, we recommend that you choose a policy offering life-long cover with no 12-month time limit. Avoid the cheaper policies because these may limit the amount that can be claimed, have a higher excess, stop when your dog reaches a certain age and will usually only cover an ongoing disease for the first 12 months. |
