Night Nurse Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a registered veterinary nurse (RVN) to join our friendly team at Hart Vets as a night nurse. We are an expanding forward thinking practice that prides itself on providing excellent patient and client care. We have a really great team of vets, nurses and support staff who are passionate about dogs, cats and small family pets.

Our practice meets and exceeds the strict standards required for the RCVS Small Animal Hospital accreditation. All our patients on fluids are infused using Baxter infusion pumps. We keep detailed patient hospitalisation and anaesthetic records. We have the same nurse on wards for several days at a time to ensure familiarity with patients. We use capnography and pulse oximetry for anaesthetics, and we have heat mats and bear huggers to minimise peri-operative hypothermia. Needless to say we also have doppler BP, digital x-ray, ultrasound, digital endoscopy and laparoscopy.

Our night nurses are responsible for ensuring that all our in-patients receive the care and tlc that they require to speed their recovery. This includes monitoring fluids, administering medication as directed by the vets, ensuring pets are comfortable and keeping them clean. The night nurses are also expected to answer phone calls from concerned clients, liaise with the veterinary surgeon on call, and assist with out of hours emergency and critical care cases.

Our night nurses work a one week on, one week off rota. We encourage and fund CPD. We provide a competitive salary commensurate with experience.

If you are interested in this position please email your CV with a covering letter to or call Reception on 01869 323223 and ask to speak to Kate Mathis.
