Does Hart Vets perform complex orthopaedic surgery and spinal surgery?

Yes , we are fortunate to have our own orthopaedic expert Ian Hart. This means that we can manage the vast majority of surgical cases in house. Indeed, we also accept cases referred to us from neighbouring veterinary practices.

I've heard that Hart vets now perform acupuncture to help dogs and cats with arthritis, is this correct?

Yes. Clare Hart and Gemma Prophet are qualified to perform acupuncture at Hart vets and use this procedure regularly. They have had significant success particularly in dogs and cats with arthritis.

What happens to my pet when it comes in to stay in the hospital?

Pets that are particularly poorly are admitted so that we can give them round the clock care. The vet that is looking after your pet will be performing tests to find out what is wrong with your pet and a specific in-patient nurse will be responsible for your pets every needs; making sure they are comfortable, free of pain and for dogs if they are up to it going out for a little walk. At Hart Vets the care your pet receives at night is exactly the same as during the day. You can sleep well while we give your pet the very best of care.

Does the nurse caring for my pet go to sleep at night?

No. We employ dedicated night nurses to care for our patients overnight.

I have difficulty carrying my cats basket into the practice, can you help?

Of course! At Hart Vets we are only too happy to help in any way we can. Tell our receptionist you have arrived and one of our staff will be happy to assist you.

Do Hart Vets have a surgery on Sundays and bank holidays?

Yes, we have a surgery on Sundays and bank holidays at our Bicester veterinary hospital for sick patients. Please call us if you think your pet needs to be seen on 01869 323223. There is no surcharge for your pet to be seen at this time.

If I am worried about my pet and unsure what to do in the night, can I ring?

Yes, our fully trained night nurses are more than happy to provide advice over the telephone. We do not charge you for calling us out-of-hours.
